BOARDING SCHOOL SCHOLARSHIPS and BEYOND
We are continuing to look for both promising candidates and sponsors who will provide multi-year support for this program
For a few very high performing secondary school students, Friends of Meali finds individual sponsors to support a child at boarding school. In 2023 we (you) are supporting 19 students at Peace House. Our scholarships are given to top graduates from Meali, Oldeani and Losirwa Primary Schools. Peace House is in Tanzania’s third largest city Arusha, near Lucas Mhina’s home. (Friends of Meali’s Tanzanian leader.) Lucas and his wife, Edith, host the students for short vacations and oversee their school progress. Peace House offers an opportunity for these students to study without everyday family obligations and offers a more diverse picture of life beyond the confines of a small village with no transportation.

GRADUATES of PEACE HOUSE
Emmanuel, our very first graduate from Peace House is now completing Medical School while Lightness, our second graduate, now has a Bachelor's degree in Education from University, and is waiting to hear about a job as a secondary school teacher. Meanwhile, she is working at Meali Primary school helping the teachers there. Martha Julius graduated a program as a Park Ranger and is continuing for another year to become a Game Ranger. And so it goes All told there are 30 graduates of Peace House working on various degrees and further education beyond Peace House.
We are continuing to look for both promising candidates and sponsors who will provide multi-year support for this program. Ideally, a sponsor will follow one student for four years. Cost: $1,500 per child, per year for four years.
